For Jay McInerney, the renowned American wine critic, if Paul McCartney were a grape variety, it would undoubtedly be Merlot! A grape that unites food lovers and aesthetes. A variety that thrives on our terroirs of clay and limestone which impart a fine tension. A vintage to be enjoyed in its youth, among friends or with serious company, paired with a plate of charcuterie, a pizza, lasagna, or roasted duck.
Currently undergoing organic conversion, with a focus on each individual plot in a bid to achieve balance between the soils and vines. Hand harvested.
Predominantly clay-silt and clay-limestone soils, oceanic climate (mainly north, north-east facing plots).
Optical sorting. Gentle, slow and considered winemaking techniques prior to ageing aimed at preserving the wine’s aromatic profile.
The wine has a garnet red color supported by nuances of black cherries and relatively fast tears. The nose is aromatic and intense with notes of wild red fruits, flowers such as violet, and hints of spices and dried flowers. With a fresh and fruity attack, the palate is indulgent and vibrant while maintaining a lovely balance between fruit, texture, and acidity. The structure is just right, with mature and refined tannins supporting the aromatic richness of this wine in the mouth. The finish aims to be light and fruity, although quite persistent on a round texture.
